Sustainability consulting

We help SMEs and start-ups become more sustainable by providing services that enable them to measure, reduce, and communicate their environmental impact.

Our Services

Wolfram Chemie supports businesses in achieving their sustainability goals with tailored services that reduce environmental impact, cut costs, and strengthen brand credibility.

Our services—ranging from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to Carbon Footprinting are delivered in line with internationally recognized standards such as ISO and the GHG Protocol, ensuring reliable and comparable results

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Conduct ISO-compliant Life Cycle Assessments (ISO 14040/44) using the most up-to-date datasets to identify improvement opportunities in product design, materials, and processes.

Corporate Carbon Footprint

Whether you need to quantify the emissions of a single product (PCF, ISO 14067) or account for your entire organization across Scope 1, 2, and 3 (CCF, GHG Protocol), we help you get to credible, audit-ready numbers that work in tenders, customer conversations, and regulatory reporting

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Enhance your brand’s reputation and meet customer demand for sustainable products by providing transparent and credible information about your products’ environmental impact. We offer the creation of required LCA and assist in the process of obtaining the EPD.

Strategy development

We help your organization set climate goals, develop and implement long-term strategies, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while integrating climate policies across operations, supply chains, and reporting for meaningful progress toward sustainability and compliance.

FAQ

A PCF measures the greenhouse gas emissions across a product’s life cycle, expressed in CO₂ equivalents. An LCA goes broader: it covers multiple environmental impact categories — energy, water, land use, toxicity, and more. If your customer or tender is asking for “carbon data,” a PCF is usually sufficient. If you need a complete environmental profile, for example to substantiate a “greener product” claim or meet eco-design requirements, a full LCA is the right tool. We help you choose the scope that fits your goal, not the most complex option.

The first step is defining what data you already have (such as energy consumption, material inputs, supplier information and transport routes). In our experience, most SMEs are closer to a workable dataset than they think. We start with a rapid data audit, identify the critical gaps, and build a realistic project plan. A first credible PCF for a well-documented product is achievable in six to eight weeks. The sooner you start, the more options you have, set up a call with us to get started.

No, an LCA or PCF is first and foremost a decision-support tool for your internal use. There is no obligation to publish results unless a specific contract or regulation requires it. That said, knowing your numbers (even if they’re not yet where you want them) gives you a clear basis for improvement. Many of our clients start with a baseline study precisely to identify where the biggest reduction levers are, then use those results strategically once they’ve acted on them.

Yes, and often more immediately relevant than for large corporations. Regulatory pressure from CSRD, CBAM, and EU eco-design requirements is reaching SMEs through their supply chains: your large customers are already required to report Scope 3 emissions, which includes your products. The good news is that a well-scoped first project doesn’t require a large team or a big budget. We work specifically with SMEs and start-ups, and we design projects to fit your reality — not the other way around.

Starting with one product (ideally your highest-volume or most strategically important one) is the right approach for most SMEs. It gives your team a structured first experience, produces results you can use immediately in sales or procurement conversations, and builds the internal data infrastructure you’ll reuse for every subsequent product. A well-designed first study is not a one-off exercise; it’s the foundation of a scalable system.

It’s rarely wasted work. Internal efforts often produce the most valuable raw material: process knowledge, production data, and a clear picture of where the gaps are. What we typically bring is methodological structure — correct system boundaries, compliant allocation rules, and defensible data quality documentation — so the numbers hold up in a customer Q&A, a tender, or an audit. We build on what you have rather than starting over.
